Aviva’s Foster Family Agency (FFA) provided services for two young siblings, Brian and Edgar. Once the boys were placed in our foster home, they both began to show behavior problems. They also had social interaction challenges with peers at school.
During their stay in our Aviva resource home, they received FFA support, therapy and Wraparound services. The foster mother had a lot of patience and was able to give hope to the children despite their challenging behaviors; this also included the foster mother being in contact and helping communicate and collaborate with the children’s birth parents.
The FFA team also helped address the school issues Brian and Edgar were having by advocating for an Individualized Education Program (IEP) and tutoring. Even though the FFA placement occurred during the height of the Covid pandemic, and despite the behavioral challenges, the foster parents stepped up and provided a nurturing and supportive home for these children.
In the end, the goal of reunification with a birth parent was achieved. The children were successfully reunited with their birth father after being in Aviva’s foster home for over 2 years.
